Modern Foreign Languages
Intent
The study of languages prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world. At Red Hill, the intention of the MFL curriculum is to develop curiosity and interest in learning other languages. We aim to introduce the language of French and its culture in enjoyable and stimulating ways.
Our MFL curriculum is designed to ensure that children can:
- Understand and respond to spoken and written language from a variety of authentic sources.
- Are able to speak with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, and that they are continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
- Can write at varying length, for different purposes and audiences, using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt.
- Discover and develop an appreciation of a range of writing in the language studied.

French Day 2024
To celebrate French within our curriculum, we celebrated French day in September. The children loved trying new foods, learning about France and dressing up.
