Spring Term 1
English writing text: Arthur and the Golden Rope by Joe Todd-Stanton.
Purpose: To write a quest story.
Skills focus: Direct speech, punctuation to advance the action, story structure and conjunctions.
Maths: Multiplication and Division, followed by Length and Perimeter.
Skills focus – Multiplication and Division: Factor pairs, multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100, informal written methods and multiplying and dividing 2 and 3-digit numbers by a 1-digit number.
Skills focus - Length and Perimeter: Measurements in kilometres and metres and calculating the perimeter of rectangles, rectilinear shapes and regular polygons.
Guided Reading text: There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom by Louis Sacher and How to Train your Dragon by Cressida Cowell
Religious Education: Key Question: What is the Trinity and why is it important for Christians?
Enrichment Opportunities this half-term: Thursday 16th January - visit from the History Man focussing on Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Thursday 6th February - Organ Workshop and Visit to St Martin's church (date TBC)
PE and Forest School: PE will continue on a Wednesday afternoon and Forest School for Spring 1 half-term will take place on a Monday afternoon. Please ensure that the children come to school dressed appropriately for these sessions.
