Spring 1
Happy New Year!
This half term, our exciting topic is Super Scientists! We will be diving into the wonders of space, exploring the achievements of past and present astronauts, setting up our very own space station, and even attempting to launch a rocket into space. Our focus space-themed book will be Whatever Next, which will inspire our learning and activities.
Later in the term, we will explore the classic traditional tale The Gingerbread Man. We will use this story to spark our creativity, creating maps for the gingerbread man and using the tale as a hook projects.
In Maths, we’ll concentrate on exploring numbers up to 10. Children will learn about different number compositions, focus on number formation, and develop their understanding of doubling numbers to 10 and their number bonds.
Keep an eye out for more information and updates on these exciting learning adventures!
Reading at Home
It is wonderful to see the children's progress in their phonics journey! Your support at home plays a crucial role in reinforcing their learning.
Please remember to spend a few minutes each day reading with your child. This daily practice is vital for building their confidence and skills.
Additionally, don’t forget to sign your child’s reading diary every time they read. This helps us track their progress and celebrate their achievements together.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love for reading!
- A few reminders -
- PE Sessions: Our PE sessions take place every Wednesday. Please ensure children come to school wearing their PE kits on this day. Thank you.
- Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school every day to stay refreshed and hydrated.
- Keep us informed about who will be collecting your child at the end of each day, especially if there are any changes to the usual routine.
- Read our weekly newsletter sent out every Friday. It will provide you with valuable information about our school life, the learning your child has been doing, and any important upcoming dates.
- Wellington Boots to be brought into school. These will be kept in school as the children will go outdoors in all weathers. Please make sure they are named.
